Have you seen an Egg Box Dragon?

During this terms English lessons,  Class 6 have been reading the story ‘The Adventures of the Egg Box Dragon’ by Richard Adams. Whilst listening to extracts from the story, the children have had the opportunity to read aloud,  visualise or picture a place from the story, plan procedural writing, perform a kenning poem about dragons and write a letter to the Egg Box Dragon asking for help. The children have also been able to incorporate this story into their DT lessons, by planning and creating an Egg Box dragon of their own.

“You can find magic wherever you look. Sit back and relax, all you need is a book.” – Dr Seuss

What an amazing half term it has been. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to our Extreme Reading Challenge. It has been incredible to see the exciting adventures your reading has taken you.

Infant and Junior winners will be announced this Friday.

Have a lovely Christmas!

Keeeeeeeeeeeep Reading 🙂

Year 2 celebrate the Christmas story in style

Classes and 5 and 6 took to the stage on 5th December to retell the traditional nativity story and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.

The children from both classes, worked extremely hard to learn the words to many songs and readings and also to know when they had a part to play.

The performance was a complete success with all children demonstrating great confidence and stage presence.

Well done!

– Mrs Ruffell

” I liked it when we sang All around the World” – Lily, Class 6

” I enjoyed being a king and wearing a crown” – Tommy, Class 6

“I enjoyed learning my words and reading them out to everyone” – Rafaella, Class 5

“I enjoyed singing the King’s song” –  James, Class 5

Reading Reaches New Heights

Another fantastic round of photos! It is brilliant to see so many new faces taking part in the Extreme Reading Challenge. Keep sending in your creative ways to read. The competition is heating up, winners will be announced on the 14th of December. Still plenty of time to get your photos in to reading@penpol.cornwall.sch.uk.

Happy Reading!

Music in the Marquee 2018: The After-Movie!

For the last in our series of three posts about this years Music in the Marquee, I’m delighted to share with you our official video of the event!  You may have seen Miss Clarey with her camera out all evening, getting lots of videos of everything that goes on at Music in the Marquee.

She’s taken all those clips and has made this incredible video to show you what the night was all about.  If you were there then try to see if you can spot yourself!

As always, the whole purpose of the night is to try and raise as much money for the PFA as possible.  I’m delighted to say that this year, our concert has raised £3903!!!

Penpol Languages Survey- We Value Your Feedback

With the final term at Penpol School almost upon us, it’s the perfect time to reflect and evaluate on the year so far.

All students here at Penpol have one hour a week of French, as well as the opportunity of attending after school language club on Thursdays. Year 6 are currently involved in an email exchange with Octave Cazauvieilh, a primary school situated on the outskirts of Bordeaux in the South-West of France. We also celebrate students achievement in languages by awarding a Star of the Week badge in both Infants and Juniors.

As a way of evaluating languages at Penpol, please would you be so helpful and spare a moment to complete this short questionnaire below.

Your opinion is very valuable and you can be assured that your completed questionnaire will be totally anonymous.

Many thanks,

Mr Emery (Penpol Languages Co-ordinator)
